J-sploitation: U.S. DVD release of Masanori Inoue's VIRGIN NIGHTMARES (SHION - HIBI)

Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. released Masanori Inoue's Virgin Nightmares (Shion - hibi) on DVD (12893; NTSC, region 1, Japanese w/ English subtitles) in the U.S. on January 23rd, under its neon-g label; the DVD is available for order from ScreenAnarchy affiliate Amazon.com Inc.. Engel K.K. (K.K. Engel) - Cinema Visual Communications Ltd. (CVC K.K.) as of April 1, 2005 - released the movie on VHS and DVD in Japan on August 2, 2004. (According to numerous online DVD retailers, the movie wasn't released on DVD in Japan on July 1, 2004 - contrary to what it states on the Engel website.)

The screenplay for Virgin Nightmares was written by Inoue. As was reported here on ScreenAnarchy back on August 16, 2005, the movie starred Tsuyoshi Nakano, Tamami Kaneko (she played the zombie female ninja in Seiji Yamada's The Naked and the Living Dead (Shin kaidan zangyaku hidô: onna keiji to ratai kaibôki) - a.k.a. "Yôki kaidan zenshû: bangai-hen: onna keiji to ratai kaibôki"), Erina Tagawa, Jun Seto, Satoko Yamamura, and Akihiro Ôishi.
