The undead have just taken over Pakistan. Zibahkhana (Hell's Ground) is supposedly the first film to feature Muslim zombies and the first to be produced by an ice-cream mogul, so says this Variety report

But the claim of "first film to feature Muslim zombies" could easily be disputed, as Malaysia's coming up with Zombie Kg Pisang (Zombies Of Banana Village). The horror-comedy, about a village that's taken over by walking corpses after a blackout, is also Malaysia's first zombie movie. It's directed by Mamat Khalid, a filmmaker known for his comedy work, and stars local rock icon Awie and pop star-cum-actor AC Mizal.

What the director says: “This is a satire about what happens when a village is taken over by a left-wing religious group, played as a zombie movie. I hope people will see it as a fun parody of Malaysian society. At first I tried to make it scary, but I edited out those scenes because I’m not a horror director but more of a comic guy.” (Quote from The Star)

Man, there seems to be a whole lotta dead folks walking around Asia these days.

Stay tuned for more news about Zombie Kg Pisang, which will be released in Malaysia end of this year.
