Update on Shûsuke Kaneko's GOD'S LEFT HAND, DEVIL'S RIGHT HAND, w/ Asuka Shibuya, Tsubasa Kobayashi

Today on its website, Fangoria posted its first report (link below) on Shûsuke Kaneko's live-action horror movie God's Left Hand, Devil's Right Hand (Kami no hidarite akuma no migite). Here's an excerpt from that report: "The GOD'S set has seen numerous atrocities: throats slit like soft butter, bodies twisted like wrung rags and women tortured and decapitated - all in full view of the camera. ¶ These grotesque scenarios were created by Kakusei Fujiwara [Japanese Movie Database entry] and his staff at Dummy Head, an upstart special makeup studio located in Tokyo's Setagaya ward. 'This set is unlike anything I've ever seen in Japan,' says Fujiwara. 'It is as if we are entering the phase that the U.S. experienced in the early 1980s. For me, this is a dream job, since I’ve wanted to make a film based on this very manga since I first read it back in the '80s.'"

As was previously reported here on ScreenAnarchy, the screenplay for God's Left Hand, Devil's Right Hand (Kami no hidarite akuma no migite) was written by Yoshinori Matsugae, based on the eponymous manga Kami no hidarite akuma no migite by Kazuo Umezu (other manga of whose the Kazuo Umezu's Horror Theater (Umezu Kazuo: kyôfu gekijô) hexalogy was based on). The movie's principal cast is as follows: Asuka Shibuya, Tsubasa Kobayashi, Ai Maeda, Momoko Shimizu, Saaya (on the left), Reon Kadena, Daikichi Sugawara, Natsuko Yamamoto, Toshie Negishi, Yoneko Matsukane, Toshiyuki Watarai, Haruna Imai, Tarô Nogi, Nana Shirasaka, Norie Watanabe, Aoi Hirosawa, Mai Nakajima, Sae Shimizu, Hana Serizawa, Aiko Umeda, Shun Nishiura, Hiroko Toda, Mayu Sakuma, Mika Kamiya, Momoka Fujie, Tomoyuki Washizu, Akira Saitô, Kunihiko Mikami, Keisuke Nomura, Hiroaki Kawatsure, (Kazuo) Umezu, Shigemitsu Ogi, and Tomorowo Taguchi.

Toshiba Entertainment K.K. (Tôshiba Entateinmento K.K.) plans to release God's Left Hand, Devil's Right Hand theatrically in Japan next summer.
