The official website for Shion Sono's Strange Circus (Kimyô na sâkasu) is now online, although at present it's just a home page.

Strange Circus stars Masumi Miyazaki, Issei Ishida, Rie Kuwana, Mai Takahashi (she's also in Yoshihiro Nakamura's Booth (Bûsu) and Takashi Miike's The Great Yokai War (Yôkai daisensô); earlier this year she was in Yûdai Yamaguchi's Present (Purezento) - one of the half-dozen hour-long movies in the Kazuo Umezu's Horror Theater (Umezu Kazuo: kyôfu gekijô) series), Fujiko (earlier this year she was in Takashi Ishii's Flower and Snake 2: Paris/Shizuko (Hana to hebi 2: Pari/Shizuko), Tomorowo Taguchi (he's also in Ryûichi Hiroki's It's Only Talk (Ittsu onrî tôku), Kentarô Moriya's School Daze (Sukûru deizu), and Takashi Minamoto's Until the Lights Come Back (Daiteiden no yoru ni); earlier this year he was in Ataru Oikawa's Einstein Girl (Ainshutain gâru) and Taiichi's Death Make - one of the half-dozen hour-long movies in the Kazuo Umezu's Horror Theater (Umezu Kazuo: kyôfu gekijô) series), and Hiroshi Ôguchi.

Strange Circus is scheduled to première at the 10th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) in early October, to be screened at the Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival 2005 (Tôkyô Kokusai Fantasutikku Eigasai 2005) - "Tokyo Fanta 2005" for short - on October 14th, and to open at the Shinjuku Toa (Shinjuku Tôa) in Tokyo on December 24th.

Here's a synopsis for Strange Circus from the page for the movie on the PIFF website: "Wheelchair-bound Taeko is a successful erotic novelist who lives in a luxurious apartment served by several young editors and assistants. She is writing a lurid tale of an incestuous and abusive love triangle (father, mother and daughter). A new young editor, Yuji, starts to investigate her and discovers that Taeko is only pretending to be disabled. What is she hiding?"
