Shion Sono's latest movie is Strange Circus (Kimyô na sâkasu). According to this page for it on the website of the Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival (Tôkyô Kokusai Fantasutikku Eigasai) - "Tokyo Fanta" for short - in addition to having written the screenplay for and directed it, Sono scored it.

Strange Circus stars Masumi Miyazaki, Issei Ishida, Hiroshi Ôguchi, Rie Kuwana, Mai Takahashi (she's also in Yoshihiro Nakamura's Booth (Bûsu) and Takashi Miike's The Great Yokai War (Yôkai daisensô); earlier this year she was in Yûdai Yamaguchi's Present (Purezento) - one of the half-dozen hour-long movies in the Kazuo Umezu's Horror Theater (Umezu Kazuo: kyôfu gekijô) series), and Tomorowo Taguchi (he's also in Ryûichi Hiroki's It's Only Talk (Ittsu onrî tôku), Kentarô Moriya's School Daze (Sukûru deizu), and Takashi Minamoto's Until the Lights Come Back (Daiteiden no yoru ni); earlier this year he was in Ataru Oikawa's Einstein Girl (Ainshutain gâru) and Taiichi's Death Make - one of the half-dozen hour-long movies in the Kazuo Umezu's Horror Theater (Umezu Kazuo: kyôfu gekijô) series).


Strange Circus is scheduled to be screened at Tokyo Fanta 2005 on October 14th, and to open at the Shinjuku Toa (Shinjuku Tôa) in Tokyo on December 24th.

Sono's previous directing credits include Noriko's Dinner Table (Noriko no shokutaku), Into a Dream (Yume no naka e), and Suicide Circle (Jisatsu sâkuru) - a.k.a. "Suicide Club".
