The official website for Takashi Tsukinoki's The Deep Red (Shinku) now is largely functional. As was previously reported here and there on ScreenAnarchy, the screenplay for the movie was written by the late Hisashi Nozawa, adapted from his eponymous novel Shinku. (Sadly, Nozawa hanged himself some time between June 27th and 28th of last year - see, for example, here.) The movie's principal cast (as listed, left to right, on the "Cast & Staff" page of the official website) is as follows: Rina Uchiyama (she's also in Keisuke Toyoshima's Kaidan Shin Mimibukuro: gekijô-ban: 'Nobuhiro-san'), Asami Mizukawa (she's also in Hideaki Sunaga's Nagurimono: The Fighter (Nagurimono) and Kunio Torii's Madamada abunai deka), Fumiyo Kohinata, Naoto Ogata, Asahi Uchida (he was in Kiyoshi Kurosawa's House of Bugs (Mushi-tachi no ie) - one of the half-dozen hour-long movies in the Kazuo Umezu's Horror Theater (Umezu Kazuo: kyôfu gekijô) series), Takashi Tsukamoto, Mitsuru Hirata (he was in Kôhei Oguri's The Buried Forest (Umoregi)), Yôko Minamino, Maki Horikita (she was in the story "Line of Sight" ("Shisen"), directed by Keisuke Toyoshima, in the omnibus horror movie Tales of Terror (Kaidan Shin Mimibukuro: gekijô-ban)), Yôko Shimada, and Yoshiko Tanaka.

Tôei K.K. is scheduled to release The Deep Red theatrically in Japan on September 17th.
