Those who know me know that I read. A lot. Probably even more than I watch films. They also know that I am simply a massive fan of Douglas Coupland. Thus I am stunned that this has managed to slip under my radar this long. Coupland - famous for Generation X and Life After God - has written an original screenplay titled Everything's Gone Green and it is going into production this month with Paul Fox at the helm and Paulo Costanzo in the lead role.

I always knew it was just a matter of time before Coupland made it to the big screen. Microserfs came close and after early rumblings that Tarantino had picked up rights to All Families Are Psychotic that one is now in the hands of Dreamworks and director Noam Murro. The thing is, though, that as much as I love Coupland on the printed page the things that make his best work so strong simply wouldn't be very likely to make it on to the big screen because he is simply neither plot nor dialogue driven most of the time. The most important stuff happens internally and that generally doesn't make for particularly good viewing. Thus having a project written directly for the screen makes me doubly happy. We get Doug on screen and we get him there without having to do a major overhaul of his written work. Yum.
